Hello!  I'm Melanie.

My name is Melanie Vangopoulos.  I am the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Phronesis Capital.  My greatest passions in life are investing and inspiring others to their own greatness.

My Work

Having enjoyed a 20+ year career on Wall Street, spanning trading to portfolio management, I am onto a new very exciting chapter - the upcoming launch of Phronesis Capital, which is currently targeted for 1Q22.

Phronesis is a long-short market-neutral equity investment strategy focused on the Technology, Media and Telecom sectors.

I took my first Economics class at the age of 16 while attending high school in Rhodes, Greece.  The light bulb went on for me and I immediately knew I wanted to pursue an education in Economics.  I graduated from Rutgers University with Bachelors degrees in both Economics and Italian, with Phi Beta Kappa academic honors.

I am a CFA® Charterholder.

A lifelong learner, I am currently pursuing a Certificate in Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.

Principles I Live By

Do what you love.

The only limitations are in your mind.  When you synchronize your beliefs with your desires, and take aligned action, you can achieve or do anything.

Just For Fun

I fell in love with photography at the age of 10, while on vacation with my father along the coast of California.  He showed me how to operate his Canon SLR and I've had a camera in my hand at all times since!

I've since studied Photography at FIT, ICP, and The New School, all in New York City.

Photography is my creative outlet.  It's my way of capturing the beauty in people, places, and moments.

When a friend told me that you could "learn" how to sing, I went out and found a vocal coach the next day.  Within a year, I was singing with a "Wall Street" band - a group of Traders & Sales guys who shared an appreciation for music and performing.

I'm no longer with the band but I love to sing whenever the opportunity presents itself.

I enjoy spending time in Nature whenever I can.  Living in NYC, this can simply mean bike rides along the Hudson River Park or enjoying the sunsets from Battery Park.

Nature has a positive impact on our physical and mental wellbeing, so I consider it part of my own self care to make sure I maintain a healthy balance of Nature vs City time.
